ASH Shefa Baharom of Kuala Lumpur used to watch gymnastics on television when she was in pre-school and got hooked to the sport.
In fact, there used to be a tug-of-war over watching television as all four of her older siblings were not into gymnastics.

Things changed when she entered SK Convent 1 Bukit Nenas. When the school invited pupils to register for gymrama class the seven-year-old pestered her mother, Nur Liyana Heng, to allow her to join.

From then on, there was no looking back for the 12-year-old who aspires to an architect just like her father, Baharom Ujang and also to represent the country at the Olympics.

For all her steadfastness and dedication, Ash Shefa was selected as the most promising gymnast at the Malaysian Schools Sports Council's Gymrama 2010 championship at the SJK (C) Kwang Hua school hall in Sungai Nibong, Penang yesterday.

The year six pupil won gold in the pre-junior category free hand, rope and individual overall and a silver in the hoop individual event.
